Robert Fulton, Boy Craftman, was written by Marguerite Henry and published by InquisiCorp Corporation, 2006. In Robert Fulton, Boy Craftsman, Robert Fulton goes to school, and is a apprentice at a gunsmith's shop. When he grows up, he goes to Philadelphia, as a painter. I like Robert Fulton, Boy Craftsman, because it was true, and because it was in history. I think you should read this book because he made his own things. My favorite part of the book is when it shows how he made his paints, and when he made a paint bruch from the fur of his cat. This book made me feel inspired to make my own things. Robert Fulton, Boy Craftsman, was my favorite book of the year.-by Catie, age 8

Robert Fulton, Boy Craftsman is my favorite reading book this school year. I like the book chiefly because Robert, or Bob as he was called at the time, gets so many ideas and makes many inventions. Near the end of the book, even though he was most famous for the steamboat, in addition he makes machines for spinning flax, making rope, and even sawing marble without breaking it! My favorite part of the book is when the Council ordered that the candles were not to be lit on July 4th, as it was during the Revolution and candles were scarce, because at that time, everybody placed candles where everyone could see them on July 4th. Then Bob persuaded his brothers and sisters to give the candles to him to trade for gunpowder. He made fireworks, or skyrockets as they were called, and now, believe it or not, it’s thanks to him that you can watch the fireworks every July 4th! You’ll probably like this book because if you like inventions and ideas, this book – quite literally – has a dozen!

This book is my favorite book because it’s interesting and fun to read. My favorite part is when Robert Fulton invents the steamboat. The steamboat went slow at first, then it went faster than all the other boats. This book made me feel like I wanted to invent something. I think you’ll want to read this book because it’s about Robert Fulton’s life from the time he was a boy to when he invented things that changed people’s lives. – by Jeremiah Estep
