A very engaging story of the trials and tribulations Eli went through in the development of his cotton gin. A good character study in perseverance. Another one of those books that makes your child feel like "I know all about that!" when they hear the name Eli Whitney or mention of the cotton gin later in your history reading.

Oh, this book is so good. It just went on and on about his life and why such and such affected his work, because such and such was going on in history. Definitely a "whole story" book that your children could write an essay on when you finish it. GOOD FOR RECALL!!!! And not just about the cotton gin; that boy made muskets, too!

Fascinating story. My boys looked forward to this story everyday. This book is a great tool to teach perseverance. A great read.
