4 out of 5 stars by KRISTINA G on 2008-12-15
Enjoyed almost unreservedly here at our house - we loved this book. I would change only one thing - the jarring, present-day references sprinkled throughout the book. I didn't like that at all. I wanted to immerse myself in their experience, not plot them geographically in present-day locations. But that small point aside, this book was wonderful. I just ordered the National Geographic film to follow up!

Written by Josh, age 9: I liked the Lewis and Clark Expedition because it was suspenseful, creative and it surprised me with every last detail! It was a true story with real history. Good parts snuck up on me when I read it! Lewis and Clark had to travel through the Rocky Mountains to see how large the LA Territory was. Also, to see how big the whole country was, all the way to the Pacific Ocean from St. Louis, MO. They discovered the grizzly bear, the Shoshone Indians, the Columbia River and granite rock. They thought the Rockies were the largest mountains they had ever seen. I recommend this book to others because it was easy to read and I just wanted to keep reading it and reading it! If you like a lot of suspense, and you want to learn some history, you will love this book. Every nine year old should read it. Ten year olds, too.

The Lewis and Clark Expedition is a real good book. It is the best book that I have read this year. The author's name is Richard L. Neuberger. This book is about two men that lead a big group of men from St. Louis to Oregon. The Lewis and Clark Expedition is mostly true. Their Expedition started in 1804 and it ended in 1806. I enjoyed this book because two men lead a big group on a long trip. Their trip was dangerous because of Indians. If you like adventures then I know you will like this book. by Andrew J, age 7
