My 11yo started with this book 2 yrs ago. I love italics because... well it's legible. She was a bit leary because she wanted to learn the swirly cursive. She has since learned the value of legibility too. She is using the next book now. Her penmanship is beautiful and something she is proud of. I recommend another book of blank sheets for more practice though. I copied the blank pages in the back.
