5 out of 5 stars by Rhonda J on 2010-04-06
Singapore public schools use Singapore Math and generally their students rank #1 among countries in math. I really like how the math encourages children to think outside the box, not just memorize rote formulas. The textbook is colorful, the workbooks black & white. The pricing is comparable to other math programs.

I have really enjoyed teaching my 7 year old the Singapore method and I recommend it to anyone who wants their child to understand key concepts by strategizing rather than using repetitive drills. My daughter is understanding concepts logically rather than being forced to memorize algorithms. As much as memorizing might help her down the road in advanced mathematics, conceptual understanding will be much more beneficial. All lessons are engaging and pictorial which makes it easier for the visual learner. It's a great feeling for both parent and child when the mathematical "light bulb" turns on. Singapore Math is the switch to that light bulb!
