History Program 1 - Five-Day

We just started the program, and I am loving it so far. If you are familuar with Usborne you know to use guidance with their books. There are a few pictures of bare breasted natives, but a Sharpie works fine! Also, Usborne does teach Evolution, but SonLight has left these pages of study out in their teachers guide. I have found this a great time to rebuke the teaching of evolution and taken the opportiuity to teach my son it is wrong and against God and the Bible. After review the whole package and reading many of the books before I exposed them to my son; I feel SonLight has put a great History package together.

I love the curriculum. I am much more offended by the references to life beginning out of water in the history book than by nudity which was created by God. Personally, this is not something that is taboo in our Christian home. I breastfeed in my children in front of my other children, and we teach our children that our bodies are perfect the way our God created them, not only when they are covered with clothing. This is just our family, and every Christian family has the right to the way they raise their children, but I just wanted to say that not all Christian's consider natural nudity inappropriate for children.

I am suprised to have a Christian curriculum utilizing books that depict bare breasted women. The Usborne books, Peoples of the World, Houses and Homes, and Usborne World History ALL have multiple pages depicting FULL BREASTS NUDITY. I understand that we are discussing different cultures of the world, but I would DEFINITELY NOT consider this appropriate for children.

I loved how they began with the basics on how scientists discover and study ancient civilizations and then delve into the societies. I've learned a lot this year right along with my children.
